To celebrate the success of our Spring Book Sale and the progress of our Annual Appeal campaign\, we would like to show our appreciation for your continued support by hosting the FOL Spring Gratitude Event in your honor. \nMonday\, June 9\, 2025\n7:00 – 8:30 PM\nNewburyport Public Library – Program Room \nPlease join us in the Program Room anytime between 7:00 – 8:30 PM. We will consider texture\, movement\, color\, repetition\, focal points\, vertical elements and more. \nAbout the Presenter: \nKerry Ann is a ‘passionate perennialist’ with over 25 years of hands-on experience. As a consultant\, designer\, and teacher\, she specializes in low-maintenance\, sustainable garden and landscape design\, incorporating perennials\, ornamental grasses\, flowering shrubs\, bulbs\, and no-fuss annuals. Kerry Ann has given lectures\, workshops and classes throughout New England\, across the United States and even in Canada. Since 2015 she has presented over 400 lectures to more than 40\,000 gardeners in 23 states and Canada. In 2014 she received the Gold Medal Award from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society recognizing individuals who have contributed to excellence in horticulture. Kerry Ann was specifically acknowledged for “Exceptional teaching and writing that increases public enjoyment and appreciation of horticulture.” Kerry Ann has consulted and designed gardens for thousands of clients all over the Northeast during the past 25 years. \nThis program is brought to you in collaboration with the Groton Public Library. The class will cover techniques in carving linoleum\, composition\, ink mixing\, and printing. At their own pace students will learn how to create a design and carve it in linoleum using carving tools. Students will learn how to ink and print their linoleum blocks by hand. In a relaxed and welcoming environment students will create many beautiful prints of their own as well as collaborate with their classmates. This class is suitable for beginners and can be adjusted for all levels of experience. \nAbout the Presenter: \nBrooke is a professional printmaker and painter. She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and shows her work widely in New England\, New York\, and beyond. Brooke works in Studio 447 at Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in her current city of Lowell\, MA. She is currently represented by The Society of American Graphics Artists and Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition in New York. Brooke is a sponsored artist by Akua Inks and Speedball Art Products. She has eleven years of teaching experience and currently teaches art workshops and holds artist demos at several locations in MA\, NH\, and ME. \n  \nRegistration is required for this program and attendance is capped. Fred Allen found inspiration at the Boston Public Library to start his vaudeville career. Bob and Ray started their radio run in Gloucester at WHDH. Rusty Warren and Tom Lehrer shocked crowds in song. Norm Crosby and Bill Dana played the swinging supper clubs. Jay Leno\, Paula Poundstone\, Steven Wright\, Conan O’Brien\, Bo Burnham\, Ziwe – all are part of the fabric of Boston comedy lore. Their history is a mirror of the history of American entertainment. As you may know\, Jeremy D’Entremont is one of our very favorite speakers so we hope you’ll join us for for another great discussion! \nAbout Jeremy: \nJeremy D’Entremont is the president and historian of the American Lighthouse Foundation\, historian for the U.S. Lighthouse Society\, and the author of more than 20 books and hundreds of articles on lighthouses and maritime history. He’s the producer and host of the U.S. Lighthouse Society’s podcast\, Light Hearted. He has appeared on the popular Ghost Hunters TV show\, as well as Haunted Lighthouses of America on the Travel Channel.
